Design
To keep a program fresh, one must change certain aspects of the design. Feel free to undo years of prior branding.
Firefox itself has gone through multiple designs.
Early Firefox UI (2002-2008) - Native operating system UI
"Strata" Theme (2008-2014) - Keyhole shaped border around back/forward toolbar to form a unique Firefox visual identity.
"[Keyhole] is the iconic shape for back and forward that gives Firefox a cross platform identity."
Firefox Australis (2014-2017) - Curved tabs to represent the fox, retaining circle border around the back button on toolbar as an acknowledgement of "Strata", remove color from icons.
"One of the most noticeable changes is our tab shape. Ours is Firefoxy — organic, friendly, and fluid — and a good fit for the general feel of Firefox."
Photon Design System (2017-2021) - Squaring off tabs, removing border around toolbar, glyph icons. Now it looks like the other browser.
